Can PCB be recycled?
PCB is full of precious metals. After it’s used, sure it can be recycled. One is to get the precious metals recycled to use. The other is to recycle the toxic contents of PCB from polluting the environment.
PCB, refers to the printed circuit board, which is one very important electronic components, acts as the supporter and carrier of the electronic components and electrical connection. This makes PCB plays an important role in both life and industry, also makes waste PCB becomes one major part of the electronic waste. Waste PCB, for a long time, had been a headache for the whole nationality, as it’s tough to be disposed. But it’s undeniable that PCB has very high value, as its valuable contents include about 40% precious metals. This is one reason why PCB can be recycled. Another reason is that PCB also consists of some toxic and noxious substance, like lead, benzene and mercury, which would be hazardous to the environment if just leave the waste PCB away. Both the two reasons make waste PCB has to be recycled, only need to know the way to recycle.
The composition of printed circuit board
Exclude the crude PCB recycling methods through landfill, burning, water washing and pyrolysis, a clean technology without generate secondary pollution is expectable for a long time. Now the recommended way to recycle PCB is through mechanical crushing and physical separation. After this treatment, metals and nonmetals in PCB could be separated. Even the separated metals and nonmetals are still mixture, but the metals are already available to be sent to the metal smelting factory for further extraction. The nonmetals mainly are fiber and resin, which could be directly used as additives for construction materials. This way, all of the contents of waste PCB could be recycled and make full use.
